10/17 Today’s Buddhist Food for Thought

Daily Encouragement by Daisaku Ikeda
Friday, October 17, 2008

I hope that each of you will study broadly and develop your understanding of life, society and the universe, based on your faith in Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism. This type of learning enables you to cultivate a rich state of life, or inner world, drawing forth profound wisdom and limitless leadership ability from the depths of your life.

Wisdom for Modern Life by Daisaku Ikeda
Friday, October 17, 2008 (Buddhism Day by Day)

One‚’s actions in previous existences are all engraved in and contained in this lifetime. The causes for our present suffering or joy, happiness or misery, all lie in our own past actions. But Nichiren Buddhism enables us to fundamentally reform our destiny. When we truly base ourselves on Buddhism‚’s view of life‚’s eternity, we realize the first thing to change is how we live in the present. In Nichiren Buddhism, change arises from the depths of our being. Strong, pure vitality abundantly wells forth. The iron chains of destiny are cut, and our original identity, the fresh and robust world of Buddhahood, appears.

In the eighth volume of Great Concentration and Insight and in the eighth volume of The Annotations on “Great Concentration and Insight” it says, “The stronger one’s faith, the greater the protection of the gods.” This means that the protection of the gods depends on the strength of one’s faith. The Lotus Sutra is a fine sword, but its might depends upon the one who wields it.

Look if I wanted a women for President, you know John doesn’t have many brain cells left (not being mean here, just keeping it real as they say) looking like he’s about to keel over any day, I would have voted for Hillary or Cynthia McKinney.  She is an insult to our intelligence as strong, thinking, capable women and the American public.

Aprés moi, c’était un deluge! (Louis XV of France)–After me, the flood!

Who knew how prophetic French King Louis XV’s words would be today as he was talking about the future of France in the 18th Century foreshadowing the French Revolution, would still applicable to the modern-day US?

As the days get closer to the November 4th Presidential Election in hopes of ending Duybya’s eight-year reign of terror, former Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of State, Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama.

Michelle Obama: Family values  and other issues.

Michelle on WANE:

Pass the Mrs Butterworth-John your still waffling!

Last night, many of us witnessed Sen. Barack Obama holding his own in his refuting more of John McCain’s distortion of the facts/truth in the third and final Presidential debate.

McCain really must be living on another planet as he tried to tackle more like evade the issues as posed by moderator Bob Schieffer of CBS.  The look of desperation and panic was all over the man’s face and in his body language.

Think the news media yesterday morning uncovered McCain’s lies with his buddy ‘Joe the Plumber’ who is now an overnight celeb and tax evader from outside Toledo, Ohio.

BTW John, who does your fact checking with you? Also, when you were talking about ‘affordable health care’ for everyone–didn’t your health benefits claim in another one of the debates instead of saving the takes payers money will cost them and their employers which Sen. Obama  has pointed out on several occasions, whom you called ‘Sen. Government’.

Well at least, you didn’t call him ‘That One’ again…

On another note, is some Vegas bookmaker your financial advisor? Where in the heck do you get you can balance the budget in 4-8 years, when political and economic experts say it will take at least 50 years to restore our Country back to some sense of normalcy and stability from the damage you and your  cronies have been doing over the last 8 years.

Ah the days of yore when we actually really had a surplus in our economy. This is worse than during the Reagan Era, don’t think you or Duybya is going to get any buildings or airports named after you.

What was with the sighs of exasperation and rolling of the eyes when you looked you were either frightened by some bug crawling across the table or couldn’t believe what your opponent Sen. Obama was saying in his refutiation of your claims. He held his ground with on the Ayres & Acorn issues and his stance on his voting record as an Illinois State Senator on the abortion question.

As the French and some of my gay male friends say, ”quelle bonne surprise’!

BTW John, how’s your buddy G. Gordon Liddy doing? Physician heal thy self! You’re utzing/kvetching (whining, complaining) with your Ayres distortion–how are Keating and his gang?

Also, what was with your comments re: Obama being invited to sit in on the Supreme Court Judicial Appointments of Justices Ginsburg and Breyer? John did you forget those appointments were made in Bill Clinton’s first term as President in 1993 and 1994—Sen. Obama was not I repeat WAS NOT elected to the U.S. Senate until 2004.  Why would a State Senator from Illinois be present at such hearings?

Also, on a further note, John your running mate Ms. Palin doesn’t have a child with Autism, she has one with Downs Syndrome.

Please Pass the Mrs Butterworth–John your still waffling and distorting the truth!

We can all sleep better tonight thanks to the AP & Huff Po in solving the mystery of who the hell that ‘Joe the Plumber’ guy was that John McCain was bullshiting about in last night’s and final Presidential debate in his distortion of Barack Obama’s proposed domestic policies.

A picture is worth a thousand words? Maybe not in John McCain’s case?

See for yourself–you be the judge!
